In our counselling sessions I will provide you with a safe and confidential space for you to talk about your issues and concerns. I am a fully qualified professional counsellor and I will help you to explore your thoughts, feelings and behaviours so you can develop a better understanding of yourself and of others.
As a counsellor I will not give you my opinion or advice. My role is to help you to find your own solutions – whether that’s making changes in your life or finding ways of coping with your problems.
Therapy with me will take place in planned, regular weekly sessions which will last for an hour. How many appointments you have will depend on your individual circumstances and will be agreed between us. I provide face to face sessions from a therapy centre based close to Nottingham City Centre. This is my preferred way of working however I also offer online or over the telephone.
You are in control of what you bring to therapy it is my role as your therapist to support you and facilitate this process. During a session what you talk about can vary depending on what you want help with but it could include:
I will listen to you without judgment and help you explore your thoughts and feelings. I may offer insights and bring your awareness to what I feel and see, but I won’t tell you what you should think or do.
Counselling can benefit anyone who is in need of support from all walks of life. Sometimes it can be the first time we are ever truly listened to by another. It can help you to find solutions and healthy coping strategies for a wide range of pathological behaviours. It can provide a relationship that is supportive, empathic and non-judgemental which allows you to grow and develop in ways that can heal past hurts. Whether its short-term work developing coping strategies and solutions or longer-term relational work that is required, counselling and psychotherapy can be a catalyst for bringing about great change in your life.
